Subject: Jan 25th West Garland Neighborhood Assoc Meeting Notes

Dear Neighbor,
 

We are so happy that you were able to join us this past Tuesday, January 25th at the Harris Hollabaugh Recreation Center for our first meeting of 2011. 

To those who were unable to attend, we hope that you will plan on participating in some of our neighborhood’s upcoming events.

 

It is our goal to improve communications by sharing news, gripes, and suggestions in an effort to build and maintain a safe and healthy neighborhood.

 

We meet four times a year with our next meeting scheduled on Thursday, April 28th.

A brief recap of what we covered during Tuesday’s meeting follows:

 

·         Report on the official dedication ceremony of the New Harris Hollabaugh Recreation Center. (Saturday, January 22)

·         Holiday lights in the neighborhood.  West Garland neighbors are proud of their neighborhood.

·         Yard of the Month (January/February winter holiday) The association will present two additional awards starting in March to encourage neighbors to maintain their yards.

·         Garland Citizen’s Police Academy – 12 week program starts Thursday, February 24. Contact Capt. S. P. McCully at (972) 485-4844 for more information.  Registration is limited.

·         Texas Trash-Off (Saturday, April 2, 2011) Neighbor volunteers need to schedule first meeting to organize this event.

·         National Night Out – Texas (Tuesday, October ) Begin planning by forming a committee.  To sign up please contact Doris Lafayette doris126@hotmail.com or Ken Agee ken.agee@verizon.net

Our neighborhood association has no dues, and is open to adults living in the west Garland area bounded by Buckingham Road on the north, Forest Lane on the south, Shiloh Road on the east, and the city limit-line on the west.
