WGNA Meeting on 1/27/10

The West Garland Neighborhood Association met at the ROC on January 26, 2010.  The meeting was called to order by Ellen Fong at 7 PM.  Richard McGough offered a prayer and the pledge was recited.  The Secretary (Bobby Wood) read the minutes of the last meeting and the Treasurer reported we have $437.34.

Sheila Walker asked for those interested in being a census taker to call her at 214-417-7677.  Barbara Chick reported 40 home burglaries in December of 2009.

Officers McCully and Bareniau spoke about crime prevention.  We were encouraged to be good witnesses and notice detail, and call 911.  We were told about the Citizens Police Academy and Citizens on Patrol.  Applications were available for a 4 hour course, usually held on Tuesday 6-10 PM.

Constable Michael Gothard was present and is up for re-election.  He said he would be at the April Meeting to explain more about his job.

Richard McGough explained how we can use video cameras for home protection.  He is starting a business and can set up cameras for under $200.00, phone 469-831-3533 if interested.  The next meeting will be held on April 27, 2010.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 PM.
