Details of the Spring 2013 Don’t Mess With Texas Trash-Off                          4/13  K.Agee

Several members of the West Garland Neighborhood Association will be volunteering for this spring’s Trash-Off event, and we encourage you, your family, and/or your friends to come out and help.

This year’s event will again be a city-wide program managed by a non-profit group called Keep Garland Beautiful.  They typically sponsor two of the events per year.  See their website www.KeepGarlandBeautiful.org for details of their overall program.

The WGNA teams will meet on the morning of Saturday 4/13, a little before 8:30am, in the parking lot of the Hollabaugh Rec Center located at 3925 Walnut Rd.  We will have some supplies (trash bags, grabbers, stickers, etc) and will probably break off into teams at that point.  The goal is to pick up trash from 8:30am until 11am.  At that point anyone who wanting to attend can come with us to the Granger Rec Center Annex at 1310 West Ave F for a recognition picnic.

As of this writing (4/1/13) these are our target cleanup sites:

1)      Drainage system between Hollabaugh Rec Center and Lottie Watson Park (behind the houses between Yale and Bradfield)

2)      Drainage system running west-to-east from near Plano Road to Edgemont Drive (behind houses of Tynes, Justice, and then northeast into the “creek-streets”)

3)      The creek behind the Walgreens at Buckingham &  Jupiter (it’s a mess!)

If you would like to volunteer, please send an email to the group’s email address at mail4wgna@gmail.com or leave a phone message in our voicemail at 972-379-7497.
