Local Elections on May 5th, 2018                                                 3/30/18  K.Agee

Due to the resignation of Mayor Douglas Athas, there will be a Special Election on May 5th. 

 

The candidates are as follows:

 

Ø   Lori Dodson 

Lifelong resident of Garland’s District 6 (our district).  Served on Planning & Zoning Commission from 2006-2011.  Served as District 6’s Councilwoman from 2011-2017 (term-limited).  Lived in Garland 50 years, where her father also served thru the local government.  Endorsed by the Garland Firefighter’s Assn. 

 

Ø  Leala Green

Retired science teacher at DISD school system.  Has a B.S. degree in biology and chemistry.  Former leader of Garland chapter of NAACP.  Wants to give back to the community.

 

Ø  Louis Moore

Former Mayor of Rowlett.  Has lived in Garland since 2000.  Served on Garland’s Plan Commission for 10 years.  Served as Chairman of the Garland chapter of the Salvation Army.

 

 

The actual election day is Saturday May 5th, but early voting is open from April 23rd thru May 1st.  Call 214-819-6332 to find voting location.
