Treasurer’s report: $2,500 in the bank

One of our NPOs, Officer Diaz, was in attendance along with Lieutenant Barineau, NPO supervisor

On their agenda is continued due diligence to spend more time with citizens. The NPOs will involve citizens in reporting anything suspicious. If you are on vacation, notify the police department so a watch can be initiated.

Regarding gang activity, a gang is 3 or more people committing crimes. Homeless people in the neighborhood can be referred to liaison officers. Solicitation without a license is illegal. There is to be no standing, stopping, sitting with signs throughout Garland. There are 3 intersections where there is no “panhandling”; Plano and Walnut, Forest and Jupiter, and Jupiter and Walnut.

Our next meeting will not be at Hollabaugh. The center will close for remodeling. A new location will be announced, probably at the church on Lawler and Jupiter.

Michelle Stuyvesant gave a presentation on recycling. Recycling is voluntary and blue bins are provided for most residents. You can check the city website to determine what day is for recycling. There is also the drop-off center on Commerce Street. To find out more about what items can be recycled, check out the Waste Wizard also found on the city website.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made, seconded and voted unanimously.
