Minutes of the Quarterly Meeting
April 27, 2023

The meeting was called to order at 7 pm.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Officers in attendance:
David Morehead - President
Linda Deskin – Vice President
Irene Ryan – Secretary
Ken Agee – Sergeant-at-Arms
Officers absent:
Robert Vera – Treasurer
Sam Madden - Parliamentarian
Minutes from the meeting in January were read and approved.
Treasurer’s report: $2,512.50 in the bank
Our NPO, Officer Velasquez, was in attendance. There are lots of burglaries of houses and vehicles. We may have a visit from the Police Department’s homeless liaison at our next meeting.
There is an upcoming election on May 6. Early voting will be April 24 to May 2. Carissa Dutton is running unopposed for the District 6 city council position vacated by Robert Vera. Scott LeMay is running for reelection as mayor. Roel Garcia is running against him. Both candidates were present for this meeting. Also on the ballot is a bond proposal for GISD.
Dr. Rick Lopez, Superintendent of GISD, attended the meeting to explain what is included in the bond election. Citizens and students from all three cities of GISD were part of the process.
West Garland Neighborhood Association now has a Facebook page. Residents in District 6 can ask to become a member.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made, seconded and passed unanimously.
