Minutes of the Quarterly Meeting
April 24, 2025
Hollabaugh Recreation Center
The meeting was called to order at 7 pm.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
There was an introduction of the officers.
Officers in attendance:
David Morehead – President
Linda Deskin – Vice President
Irene Ryan – Secretary
Ken Agee – Sergeant-at-Arms
Officers not in attendance:
Robert Vera – Treasurer
Minutes from the January meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: $3,054.30 in the bank. This information was relayed later by Robert Vera.
David Morehead welcomed all attendees and asked for an opinion poll regarding submitting a petition to name the multi-use room we use in honor of Barbara Chick. She was a former District 6 council member and was instrumental in originally getting Hollabaugh Recreation Center approved and constructed. A majority in attendance moved to proceed.
Our NPO Jordan Murphy was in attendance.
Linda Deskin provided information on the upcoming city-wide election on May 3. The election is for mayor, city council District 6 and 4 city bonds.
Of the 6 nominees for mayor, 5 were in attendance. They were Deborah Morris, Koni Kaiwi, Dylan Hedrick, Shibu Samuel and P C Mathew. Roel Garcia was unable to attend. They were allowed 3 minutes to state their qualifications.
Carissa Dutton and Robert Vera are running for District 6. Ms. Dutton is the incumbent. She was allowed 3 minutes as well. Mr. Vera was unable to attend.
There will be an election for Place 1 in Garland Independent School District. The board was unable to contact the candidates in time for them to attend. However, due to hearing about our meeting, Stephane Rovelo was able to give a brief synopsis of his qualifications. Larry Glick is the other candidate.
The meeting was adjourned after the motion, second and vote.
