WEST GARLAND NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION 7/28/09 MINUTES           10/26/10  Ken Agee

At this evening’s 4th quarter WGNA meeting, new officers were elected and others were reaffirmed.  Doris Lafayette was elected President, and will replace Ellen Fong who has served two terms.  Ellen will now serve as Vice President, in her first term.  Bobby Wood was reaffirmed as Secretary, and Dianna Diaz was reaffirmed as Treasurer.  Dorothy McAllister was elected to the position of Parliamentarian in her first term.  We are still seeking volunteers for Sergeant at Arms, Youth Liaison, and Spanish Language Liason.

David Greer (who sits on the Parks & Rec board) and Barbara Chick (City Council Rep) gave an update on the Harris Hollabaugh Recreation Center construction at 3925 W. Walnut.  At this point, plans include a “soft opening” in December, and an official opening in early Jan 2011.  David is trying to enter a reservation for the upcoming WGNA quarterly meeting, on Jan 25th.  Stay tuned for updates, because we may also have an unofficial WGNA even there if the primary plans don’t work out.
