Volunteers Needed to Beautify Barton Blvd          9/22 .K.Agee

 

One of our local residents, Marissa Lopez, is championing an effort to beautify a portion of Clara Barton Blvd at the entrance of the hospital complex, just north of Walnut Rd.  She is associated with a local non-profit called BETTER BLOCK that is based in Dallas. 

 

The idea is to pick out a small part of the neighborhood, form a “flash-mob” of volunteers, and improve it within just a couple of days, with resources provided by Bettter Block and the brief flurry of activity by the volunteers. 

 

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up before showing up.  That will help them plan for thtoe two days… in our case, Friday October 7th from 4-8 p.m., and again on Saturday October 8th from 11 a.m. until about 3 p.m.

Better Block Foundation

Garland Better Block

The Better Block Foundation and The City of Garland invite you to help volunteer with the Garland Better Block initiative, a community-led demonstration located at the west side of Clara Barton Boulevard.  

The transformation will be active on October 7 & 8 in order to test community-driven changes to public space and community engagement along Clara Barton Boulevard. We invite the community to use this space to its full potential during this time!

We need your help in building, painting, unboxing and putting together the community event. Over these volunteer workshops, we will be exploring placemaking and learning how quality public space can affect a community! All ages are welcome. Please sign up for as many volunteer workshops as you like, and we will see you in Garland.
