Barby Dike WGNA Founder, and more…                                                                                                      10/11/10 Ken Agee

Barby Dike passed away this weekend as a result of heart failure.  She had been hospitalized for about a week almost immediately after she & husband Jim finished moving from their home on Edgewood Dr. into their new apartment.  At that point, the doctors knew that she didn't have much longer, as her heart was generally in bad shape.  They got her well enough so she could go home to their new apartment (and patio) and relax.  Unfortunately it wasn't long before she relapsed.

Anyone who has spent any time at all with Barby knows how close she was to God, so there's no doubt that she had her "affairs in order".

Barby was the founder of what we now call the West Garland Neighborhood Association.  She & Jim started holding neighborhood association meetings in their house quite a few years ago, and along with help from Councilwoman Chick, got us recognized by the City so that now we have at least some clout.  Barby always kept an open mind for finding a solution to anyone's complaint, and was a great advocate for our neighborhood.
