Information on Door Frame Reinforcment Product       1/31/12  Ken Agee

At the 1st Quarter WGNA  meeting there was  some discussion about a product that seems to have merit, according to Officer Franey.  The product is called the Door Devil™ and is sold by ArchAngel.  It is basically a 48” long steel frame that is attached to a house’s entry door frame, to prevent burglars from kicking in the door.

Apparently thieves realize that it is often easy to give the door a hard kick, causing the (typically small) strike-plate to tear loose from the soft wood frame.  This product spreads that force along the entire 48” distance of the frame, making the door much more secure.

Some WGNA members may remember their presentation at our 7/28/09 quarterly meeting, when they demonstrated the product.   Installation can be done with a drill and a large screw driver, and it will fit just about any pre-hung door (the most common type, ie. from Home Depot, Lowes) as long as there is room between the door and the door-frame to slide two dimes into the space.

The company is located in Dallas, and their toll-free number is 877-273-5556.  Their website is:  http://www.doordevil.com/

Officer Franey remarked that some of the Garland Police Dept members know people who would be able to install the product (at some cost, of course).
