Original Member, Former VP, Ellen Fong Passes Away                8/22  K.Agee

Ellen Fong passed away on August 18th, 2022 at the age of 92.  She was one of the founding members of the West Garland Neighborhood Association (WGNA), and served several terms as our Vice-President.  She remained active with the organization as VP Emeritus, missing only the last quarterly meeting.

She was an inspiration to all who knew her.  She had a strong desire to improve the neighborhood, and had the skills and energy to do it.

On one occasion (the 2015 Neighborhood Night Out), she whipped up a treat for the kids that was more popular than the ice cream contributed by the local Braum’s.  When asked how she made it, she said she “took all of the boxes of Jello she had in the house, mixed them together in a big pot, and poured them into paper cups.  Once they were properly chilled, she squirted whipped cream over them, and thus “Ellen’s Treats” were borne!  That was the kind of resourceful and attuned person she was.
