Garland’s Home Improvement Program Starts 1/9/24           1/24 K.Agee

Folks who attended our 4th quarter WGNA meeting heard speakers talking about various home improvement assistance programs.  A major program is about to kick off, but it will only be available until funds are exhausted.

The “Home Improvement Incentive Rebate Program” becomes active on Tuesday 1/9/24.  Applications are open to residents of Garland who own homes greater than 30 years old, and are currently appraised at less than $268,000.  The home has to be a single-family dwelling, not a duplex, townhome, or a trailer.  Rental houses sometimes qualify, but there are extra guidelines for them.  This program will provide a 50% rebate on approved exterior projects, with a cap of $10,000 from their side.

Examples of valid upgrades include new shingles, windows, front door, and total driveway replacement.  They can even help with the cost of foundation repair as long as some other improvements go along with it.  Even painting the home’s exterior is considered eligible for the 50% rebate.

There are more details, so please use this link and read everything thoroughly before making the effort to apply:
