WGNA’s 2013 National Night Out Event Held at Lottie Watson Park 10/4/13 Ken
Agee
The West Garland Neighborhood Association (WGNA)
participated in the Texas National Night Out on Tuesday 10/1/13. Our event was held at the
Lottie Watson Park in west Garland, and featured free hotdogs, lemonade/tea/water, and cookies. The weather cooperated, and it looked like
everyone had a great time.
Various groups were represented, including Garland’s
Police and Fire Deptartments, as well as the Office
of Emergency Management, Animal Control, and some of our local representatives
(Councilmember Lori Dodson, Planning/Zoning Robert Vera, and others who serve
on commissions). The Good Samaritans
collected donated cans of food & other non-perishables, which we always
encourage attendees to bring, and the local Boy Scout Troop 884 was there
helping out plus running a booth. The
Garland Citizens Police Academy Alumni also had a booth promoting those
programs.
Home
Depot had a table centered around home improvements,
and they were very generous in their donations for our raffles, as was Lowes, Fiesta Mart, Sam’s Club, and a few individuals who
will be thanks individually.
We thank everyone who participated, even if it
was just to come out and visit. If our
goal was to bring the neighborhood closer together and help us help each other,
then the night was a success.
